The Medical Medium 369 Cleanse Results - How it Turned my Life Around
Picture this: it's Sunday, August 18, 2024, and I’m staring at my kitchen counter, which looks like a farmer’s market exploded on it. Why? Because I decided to dive headfirst into my very first Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse.
And no, it wasn’t because I suddenly had a craving for kale smoothies or celery juice. If you're wondering what prompted this leafy leap of faith, you can catch up on my why in a previous blog post HERE.
But let’s get to the juicy part—what happened next.
To understand why I found myself surrounded by more fruits and veggies than a grocery store, let’s take a quick flashback to last year.
March and September 2023 were like back-to-back horror movies where I was the main character. Twice, I landed in the hospital with a flare-up from a back injury that’s been haunting me for 12 years.
Never before had this injury thrown such a diva tantrum, but there I was, popping painkillers like candy and downing two types of opioids. Oh, and let’s not forget the nerve meds and the one-time date with Valium that left me feeling like a zombie in a coma.
Eventually, I ditched the meds, one agonising step at a time, because no one likes feeling like they’re living life underwater.
But here’s the kicker: even after all that, I was still dragging. My adrenals felt like overworked, underpaid employees, and I was stuck in a perpetual state of “meh.”
Sure, cleaning up my diet and chugging celery juice brought a bit of pep to my step, but my vibrant self? Still MIA.
Fast forward to May 2024, when I had an MRI with contrast—because, you know, once you’ve had a tumour in your head, routine check-ups become a thing.
Enter gadolinium, the “necessary evil” of MRI contrast dyes. This stuff is toxic, people. They say it’s wrapped in some fancy chemical suit to keep it contained, but here’s the twist: it can stick around in your body for months, maybe even years. Yeah, thanks for the heads-up, FDA, only took you until 2017 to mention that tiny detail.
After that MRI, I could practically feel my vitality packing its bags and leaving my body. It was like my energy had a slow leak, and I was deflating, one day at a time.
That’s when it hit me—I needed a serious reboot. Cue the Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse, swooping in like a health superhero to save the day. This cleanse had been on my radar for a while! BUT!! I knew it was time.
So, did this cleanse bring my energy back from its extended vacation? Keep reading, because what came next involves some major shifts, a whole lot of healing foods, and one heck of a transformation story that’s still in the making.
The Symptoms that Pushed me to Breaking Point
Let me give you the lowdown on what life was like before I started the cleanse.
Imagine a brain fog so thick it was more like a full-blown brain blizzard.
My energy levels? Beyond non-existent. If I had to drive anywhere after 3 p.m., I’d practically need toothpicks to keep my eyes open.
My memory was on a permanent vacation, my creativity had packed its bags, and I was snappy and cranky enough to make a swarm of bees look sweet. The smallest things could set me off, which is so NOT me!
Let’s not forget the lovely physical symptoms: dry eyes, a dry throat, and my voice sounding like I’d been singing karaoke all night.
Bloating became my constant companion, and my body seemed to laugh in the face of every attempt to lose weight—even the tried-and-true methods that used to work.
My kids would do something hilarious, and instead of laughing, I’d just stare blankly, thinking, “Who is this person, and where did the fun, joyful version of me go?” Yes, I felt so down you could label the feeling depressed!
I felt completely disconnected from myself, like someone had turned the dial down on my entire personality.
Everything felt like a chore, and that’s a dangerous place to be when you’ve got a 7-year-old and a 3-year-old running around.
The house became a mess—a physical representation of my internal chaos—and just looking at it made me feel overwhelmed and paralyzed.
Being the responsible adult that I am, I went to my GP to get blood work done, just to make sure I wasn’t missing something obvious. His suggestion? Perimenopause. Because apparently, once you hit 45, that’s the go-to diagnosis for just about everything. Yay for me! Note the sarcasm.
But deep down, I knew there was more to this story. I needed a reset—a full body and soul reboot.
That’s when I knew it was time to dive headfirst into the Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse. I didn’t just want to heal my body; I wanted to reclaim my joy, to be the fun Mum my kids deserve, the supportive partner, and the natural health advocate I love being for my clients.
On the outside, I might’ve looked like I had it all together, but inside, it was a different story. It felt like my world was quietly caving in.
Years of yoga and mindfulness have made me pretty attuned to my body and emotions, so I knew this wasn’t just mental. It felt like my body was overloaded, sending out distress signals that I couldn’t ignore anymore.
How I Prepped for the Cleanse
First things first: caffeine had to go. Now, I’m not saying I was downing triple espressos every day, but my homemade almond milk latte in the morning was a ritual.
The problem? It always made me feel worse. So, two weeks before the cleanse, I started to wean off it. I went from full-strength to half-strength, then down to a quarter, switched to matcha green tea, and finally, three days before the cleanse, I cut it out completely.
No way was I going to battle caffeine withdrawals while also detoxing my system.
I also had to get my kitchen cleanse-ready. That meant buying a top-notch orange squeezer because fresh lemon juice was about to become my new best friend.
I ordered a new part for my juicer (thanks to my 3-year-old, who thought the juicing basket was a toy). I dusted off my vegetable spiralizer and cleaned off my food processor, which hadn’t seen the light of day in way too long.
My Original 3:6:9 Cleanse Experience
Day 1 - 3: The Pizza and Ice Cream Cake Saga
Ah, Day 1 of my Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse—let's just say it started with a bang, or rather, a pizza party explosion. Picture this: I’m taking my 3-year-old to a 4th birthday bash, fully armed with apples and my meticulously packed salad lunch. But as soon as we arrive, the universe decided to test my resolve in the most delicious way possible.
The party hosts had fired up a home wood-fired oven and were cooking my all-time favourite: homemade pizza. Seriously, could the universe be any more of a trickster?
As if that wasn't enough of a plot twist, the birthday boy’s mum announces, “He chose an ice cream cake for his cake.” Cue my other favorite treat, right after pizza.
I mean, come on! My resolve was put to the ultimate test. But despite the mouthwatering temptations, I was committed. The cleanse was happening, pizza and ice cream cake be damned.
I barely touched my packed salad because, guess what? My body was like, “No more, thanks!” I felt full faster than I’d anticipated, and the same went for dinner.
I employed my trusty mindful eating practice, tuning into my body’s signals and stopping when I’d had enough. It’s amazing how quickly you can tune into what your body needs when you actually listen.
What I Ate on Day 1:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue Smoothie Bowl
- Apple
- Medical Medium Liver Rescue Salad with steamed sweet potato and zucchini
- Apple and 2 dates
- Medical Medium Potato Salad
- Lemon Water
- Lemon Balm Tea
I wasn't hungry at all, and went to bed feeling pretty satiated and satisfied with myself that I didn't cave at the sight of the woodfire oven smoking away. This cleanse isn't about going hungry it's about high nutrition and Healing.
Day 2 Recap: The Miracle of Feeling Better
At the end of Day 2, I found myself staring at my diary, pen in hand, thinking, “Can this actually be for real?!” Teaching yoga that Monday night, I was already feeling like my old self again. It was like someone had turned down the brain fog machine and flipped a switch on my energy.
The brain fog and lethargy that had been my constant companions seemed to be lifting. By the afternoon, I didn’t feel like I was dragging a ball and chain behind me anymore.
I was riding high, feeling great, but there was a tiny part of me bracing for the dreaded detox doldrums. You know, the part where you expect to feel like you’ve been hit by a truck. But seriously, was this some kind of miracle? I did not expect to feel this much better after just one day.
What I Ate on Day 2:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue Smoothie
- Apple
- Medical Medium Liver Rescue Salad with zucchini and left over steamed potatoes from last night
- Apple and 2 dates
- Curried Cauliflower and Peas
- Lemon Water
- Lemon Balm Tea
I slept better than a baby.
Day 3 Recap: Miracles Keep on Coming
Another miracle unfolded today! I woke up before my kids, feeling genuinely energized and excited for the day ahead. Tuesdays are my busy client days, so I was crossing my fingers that I’d continue feeling this good. A tiny voice in my head kept whispering, “Brace yourself, Larissa. The detox might hit any moment now.” But guess what? It didn’t.
The only hiccup was a very slight headache that showed up in the evening. It was so mild that it barely registered, but I was determined not to take any pain medication while on the cleanse. I went to sleep hoping it would fade, and by morning, it was gone.
What I Ate on Day 3:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- Apple
- Medical Medium Liver Rescue Salad with steamed zucchini
- Apple and 2 dates
- Cauliflower and asparagus Nori Rolls (which fell apart because my nori was out of date. Would've been good to check earlier than 5 minutes for I prepared these)
- Lemon Water
Days 4 - 6: The Cleansing Magic Unfolds
Welcome to the magic of Days 4 through 6! This is where the real cleanse action starts to shine. You’re diving into nutrient-rich foods designed to help your body flush out toxins, give your liver a refreshing reboot, and crank up your overall vitality.
One thing you’ll notice a lot of during this phase is asparagus. Now, I’m not usually a big asparagus fan, but I was determined to stick as close to the cleanse guidelines as possible. Of course, you can substitute, but I decided to go all-in on the green spears.
Day 4 Recap: This is the kind of Pancake you don't want!
Today was a whirlwind, and not because of the cleanse. Let me paint the picture: at school drop-off, I managed to trip over my 3-year-old and—wait for it—pancake him onto the ground. It was like a scene from a slapstick comedy.
Poor little guy skinned his knees and smacked his face on the pavement. And, yep, I had skinned knees too, plus a hefty dose of mum guilt for tripping over him.
The mishap happened because I was chatting with my 7-year-old, turned my head to the right, and—wham—my 3-year-old walked right into my path. Boom! Down we both went.
A crowd of concerned folks and teachers quickly surrounded us, offering help and support. If this had happened a few weeks ago, I would’ve been a complete emotional wreck. But today? I stayed surprisingly calm and collected.
Luckily, we both emerged with only skinned knees and a hefty dose of relief. Phew!
What I Ate on Day 4:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue smoothie
- Apple
- Medical Medium Liver Rescue Salad with steamed asparagus
- Apple
- Asparagus soup and salad
- Lemon Water
Day 5 Recap: Clear Minds and Flat Bellies
Woke up this morning feeling like a mixed bag of emotions. My knee was protesting from yesterday’s epic tumble, but on the flip side, I was brimming with energy. My mind? Crystal clear. The brain fog that once clouded my thoughts was now a thing of the past.
I’ve hit the jackpot with zero cravings. My body is feeling so satiated and nourished that I couldn’t even think of munching on anything else. I’ve come to terms with my mild dislike for asparagus, so I’m turning it into soup to sneak it in without the drama.
Thursdays are my yoga teaching days at the gym, and despite the left knee rebellion from yesterday’s mishap, I’m feeling fantastic. My belly is flat, not bloated, and my natural humour and wit are making a delightful comeback. It’s like having my old self back, but with extra zest.
Tonight I also hosted a workshop for The Australian Centre of Meditation and Mindfulness and I was ON FIRE. A week ago I had every finger and toe crossed hoping I wasn't slumped over my laptop fighting to slap a smile on my dial for this workshop. Still in amazement of how I feel. Surely the worst will hit soon.
What I Ate on Day 5:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue smoothie
- Apple
- Medical Medium Liver Rescue Salad with steamed asparagus
- Apple
- Asparagus soup and salad
- Lemon Water
Day 6 Recap: Unexpected Surprises and Hopeful Healing
Today was a bit of a "wow" moment. I noticed something strange—this weird, warty-looking thing on my finger that’s been there for over a year was almost completely gone.
How did I notice? Well, I have this quirky habit of sliding my thumb over it at traffic lights, kind of like a fidget spinner for grown-ups. Today, when I went to slide my thumb over it, the thing was practically vanished.
This little victory got me thinking: If the cleanse can help heal something as odd as this finger thing, what else is it working on inside? I’ve got a known cyst on my pineal gland, thyroid nodules, and fibroids—definitely not the sort of things you expect to fix in nine days. But if my body is starting to clean up and heal external stuff, maybe it’s working on those internal issues too.
Sure, it’ll likely take more than 9 days to sort out everything, but seeing these changes is incredibly encouraging. I’m happy to see some progress and hopeful for what’s to come.
What I Ate on Day 6:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue smoothie
- Apple
- Medical Medium Liver Rescue Salad with asparagus soup (done with steamed asparagus)
- Apple
- Asparagus soup and salad
- Lemon Water
Day 7 - 9: Things Really Heated up! Except the Soup
These days are when things really start to ramp up. The focus shifts to no fat (to give the liver a much-needed vacation) and super high nutrients. This is the phase where you start to realise your liver deserves its own spa day.
Enter the spinach soup for lunch. I’d been dreading this part, to be honest. The idea of slurping down cold green mush wasn’t exactly making my taste buds dance. But to my surprise, it was actually...nice!
The recommendation was to eat it cold, but my hard working Vitamix came to the rescue. It keeps things raw and packed with those living enzymes but warms it up just enough. So mine was a little warm, which kept me from going completely gaga over it. Win-win!
A Very Unexpected Side Effect: The Cleaning Frenzy
Today, something completely unexpected happened—I looked around my house and felt this uncontrollable urge to clean. And not just the regular, surface-level tidy-up. I’m talking deep cleaning—wiping down cupboards, getting into nooks and crannies that hadn’t seen a dust cloth in months. It’s like as my liver detoxes, I’m feeling this need to detox my outer environment too. Who knew?
My husband noticed my newfound enthusiasm and said, “I don’t know who this person is, but I like her.”
And honestly, I couldn’t agree more. I like this energised, positive, and suddenly-cleaning-everything version of me too. Who would’ve thought a cleanse would turn me into a domestic dynamo?
What I Ate on Day 7:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue smoothie
- Apple
- Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- Spinach Soup with Cucumber Noodles
- Celery Juice + Apples, Cucumber & Celery Sticks
- Butternut Squash Noodles and Liver Rescue Salad
- Lemon Water
Day 8 Recap: Calm as a Cucumber (Literally)
Today, I hosted a morning retreat in my studio, guiding a group of amazing women from a stress-dominated state into a place of deep rest. There’s a fine art to this kind of transformation, and it requires me to be calm, focused, and fully present.
Normally, this could be a bit of a juggling act, especially with all the prep work—setting up the room, preparing the food, organising playlists, run sheets, health questionnaires...the list goes on.
But today was different. It was a whirlwind of activity, organising like crazy, yet feeling as calm as a cucumber. I guess when you eat cucumbers every day, this is the inevitable result!
The retreat was a total success. The women left feeling just as I had hoped—calm, centered, and deeply at peace.
I honestly didn’t expect any of this from the cleanse. If anything, I thought I’d be dealing with detox doom and gloom, not gliding through the day like some kind of zen master. What a pleasant surprise!
What I Ate on Day 8:
- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Liver Rescue smoothie
- Apple
- Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- Spinach Soup with Cucumber Noodles
- Celery Juice + Apples, Cucumber & Celery Sticks
- Steamed Asparagus, Brussels & Liver Rescue Salad
- Lemon Water
Day 9 Recap: The Grand Finale

- Lemon water
- Celery Juice
- Papaya Pudding

- Orange Juice
- Celery Juice
- Apple and Cucumber juice

A Refreshing Reset: My Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse Journey
Starting the Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse felt like a last-ditch effort to reclaim my energy, creativity, and vibrant self. After two hospitalisations, endless back pain, brain fog, bloating, severe lethargy and just feeling “off,” I knew something had to change. I needed a reboot—mind, body, and soul.
From the moment I began, surprises awaited me at every turn. Despite being surrounded by temptations (homemade pizza and ice cream cake, anyone?), I stayed committed, fueled by the hope of feeling better. And oh, did I feel better!
By Day 2, the brain fog started lifting, and by Day 3, I was waking up with energy before my kids. Who even does that?
Days 4-6 brought on more detoxing with nutrient-rich foods like asparagus, which, surprisingly, I didn’t mind too much until I decided to blend it into a soup. My body felt lighter, and my mind clearer. Even a little tumble with my 3-year-old that left us both with skinned knees couldn’t shake my newfound calm and positivity.
Then came Days 7-9, where the cleanse really turned up the heat. Despite a late-night wake-up with my sick toddler, I still found myself bursting with energy on the all-liquid final day.
I hosted a retreat, led clients, taught yoga, and felt creatively alive. I even had an unexpected side effect—I became a cleaning machine! As I detoxed my body, I felt the urge to detox my home, wiping down cupboards and clearing out clutter like a woman on a mission.
The cleanse brought me back to my true self. My natural humour returned, my belly was flat, my energy was through the roof, and even a strange bump on my finger that I’d absentmindedly rubbed at red lights for over a year was nearly gone. Who knew that a simple cleanse could do all that?
I went into this cleanse expecting detox doom and gloom. Instead, I found calm, clarity, and a new lease on life. If my body can heal this quickly on the outside, imagine the magic it’s working on the inside. This journey was a total game-changer, and I’m excited to keep riding this wave of wellness.

P.S If you're curious I did end up weighing myself before and after the cleanse and I lost a little over 4 kgs (8.8 pounds). I'm writing this post a week after my cleanse finished and I'm still 4 kgs lighter so it wasn't all "water weight" as they say.
